Fieler sets new FIBA Europe Cup efficiency record

GRONINGEN (FIBA Europe Cup) – A remarkable all-around performance saw Donar Groningen big man Chase Fieler set a new FIBA Europe Cup all-time single game record in efficiency after lighting up Limburg United.

The 24-year-old American forward filled the stat sheet and made contributions across a wide array of categories in addition to leading the game in scoring with 24 points in a convincing 98-70 victory for the Dutch side.

"Winning the game was most important thing and I'm glad I was able to contribute, as we were in a slump lately. The atmosphere was incredible. I thought we had a lot of energy and a lot of that was due to the fans and the noise they brought. They really got behind us," said Fieler in an interview after the game.

The former Florida Gold Coast Eagle was a key figure on both ends of the floor, finishing the contest with game-high numbers in rebounds, assists, steals and blocks as well for a total efficiency ranking of 46.

"A lot of the stats are there because of the team. The steals are there due to our guard applying pressure and their guards making blind passes, the assists are there because of other people making shots," the man of the hour deflected from his personal accomplishment.

Having gone an efficient 9-of-14 from the field, including five from beyond the arc, Fieler was only two assists shy off a triple-double after collecting 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals and 4 blocks.

"I think this definitely was my best game for Donar," the big man acknowledged. "We have another tough game against Kormend now, so I'd like to be able to produce again and try to help our team win there and advance in the FIBA Europe Cup."

Despite improving to a 3-2 record in Group B, Donar are yet to qualify for the Second Round of the competition, but will hope to do so in Hungary in the final round of Regular Season action.

"After the Basketball Champions League didn't go so well, our next goal was to advance in the FIBA Europe Cup. We put ourselves in a good position and we just got to go and finish it out against Kormend next week."
