Elan Chalon reign supreme in the Power Rankings; Demir Insaat on the rise again

MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) - The final week of action is upon us in the FIBA Europe Cup Second Round, but there are plenty of vacancies in the Round of 16 with Elan Chalon claiming the only ticket to the next phase of the competition so far.

As the only undefeated team in the Second Round, they have kept their place at the top of the Power Rankings, while Demir Insaat got themselves back into improved positions and the duo of Vytautas and Pau-Lacq-Orthez returned to the Top 10.

With 11 teams already eliminated from contention, the seven available places in the knock-out stages remain up for grabs to the 12 contenders who remain in the race.

1. Elan Chalon
(5-0)

Their bags are packed and they’re already on the fast lane to the Round of 16, as Elan Chalon become the first team to clinch a spot in the knock-out stages.
2. Nanterre
(4-1)
A slip-up against Kormend was only that. Nanterre got back up on their feet with a 38-point triumph against Bnei Herzliya at home in France.
3. Telekom Baskets
(4-1)
The point differential of Telekom Baskets is so much in the green that they could probably afford to send their youth team for the final game against Vytautas in Lithuania and still qualify to the Round of 16.
4. Gaziantep (4-1) Stefanos Dedas won't crack a smile until it is official, but it would take a big collapse against group K leaders Elan Chalon for Gaziantep not to make it out of the Second Round.
5. Demir Insaat (4-1) In the FIBA Europe Cup edition of Wacky Races, Demir Insaat got back in front in Group L and will likely cross the finish line ahead of Antwerp Giants as long as they don't puncture a tire against BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque.
6. Enisey (4-1) Enisey are in a three-horse race with Lukoil Academic and Donar Groningen, but they’re already halfway through the track and the two other Group P contenders might have missed the "go" altogether.
7. Alba Fehervar (4-1) On the facade, Alba Fehervar have been one of the top teams in the Second Round, but they have a minor issue on their hands. They will need to defeat the powerful Pau-Lacq-Orthez in order to progress, which will not be an easy task.
8. Vytautas (4-1) The best offence in the Regular Season has all of a sudden become below average in the Second Round, with Vytautas failing to reach the 70-point margin on three occasions. However, labored wins against Redwell-Gunners and APOEL have kept them very much afloat.
9. Pau-Lacq-Orthez
(3-2)
It has been a roller-coaster ride of a Second Round for Pau-Lacq-Orthez, who have won all of their home games, but already lost twice on the road. If you like chills down your spine, the final go-around in Group O will be just for you as Elan Bearnais play away from home once again.
10. Kormend (3-2)
Kormend were enjoying the good life under new coach Gasper Patocnik, but the injury-struck Hungarian side complicated their situation with a loss in Minsk. On the bright side, Parrish Petty should be back when Kormend face Bnei Herzliya on Wednesday.
11. Antwerp Giants
(3-2)
Antwerp Giants worked hard to earn pole position in Group L, but in the words of famous Pink Floyd lyrics no one told them when to run and they missed the starting gun. So they run and they run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking. Still, some hope remains!
12. Lukoil Academic (3-2)   As long as they defeat Donar Groningen, they will finish second in Group P. If they do it by a big enough margin, they might actually squeeze into the next round.
13. Donar Groningen (3-2) Lance Jeter’s heroics saved Donar last week against SL Benfica. However, more or less, the only thing that can save the Dutch team this time around is the same Portuguese side they defeated. Donar will have their fingers crossed for Enisey to lose in Lisbon.
14. BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque (2-3) Starting from this point in the Power Rankings, no teams can qualify to the Round of 16. However, BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque showed they can still be impactful by handing a big blow to Antwerp Giants' qualification hopes last week.
15. Tsmoki Minsk (2-3) Dru Joyce will have his last shot to break the FIBA Europe Cup assist record this season against Nanterre. Having set the season-best 17-dime mark last week, he now has Teemu Rannikko’s all time best 18-assist game to beat.
16. U-BT Cluj-Napoca
(2-3)
U-BT Cluj-Napoca could have been fighting for a Round of 16 place this week, but the do-or-die game against Pau-Lacq-Orthez did not go in their favor.
17. Pardubice (1-4) Having defeated Pau-Lacq-Orthez and forced overtime against Alba Fehervar in their previous home games in Pardubice, the Czech side will fancy their chances of finishing the Second Round with a positive result against U-BT Cluj-Napoca.
18. APOEL (1-4)  It's time for payback! APOEL lost to Redwell-Gunners on the road in Austria when the sides first met in a nail-biting finish to the game. The Cypriot side has performed much better at home, though.
19. Redwell-Gunners (1-4) The pride of Austrian basketball is at stake. A third-place finish, which could be sealed with another win against APOEL, would be a big achievement for the young team coached by Chris Chougaz.
20. Bnei Herzliya (1-4) There's no way up for Bnei Herzliya in Group N after an admittedly disappointing Second Round. The nightmare can't end soon enough.
21. Prievidza (1-4)  It all started so well... *crickets*
22. Sodertalje Kings (1-4) Sodertalje Kings will finish their FIBA Europe Cup campaign in Romania. Toni Bizaca, who is averaging 21.9 points, might want to pad his stats to cement his position as the competition’s leading scorer with a big game.
23. SL Benfica
(0-5)
SL Benfica’s fan base in the Netherlands, especially in Groningen, will sky-rocket for one week only. The Dutch side’s qualification hopes very much rely on the Portuguese team’s success against Enisey.
24. BC Mures
(0-5)
The game against Sodertalje Kings in Targu Mures will be the last and probably their best yet chance for the Romanian side to earn a win in the Second Round.
