Chalon become first team to advance, Enisey bounce back

MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) - Elan Chalon made it five wins from five in the Second Round to become the first team to advance to the Round of 16.

John Roberson top scored with 22 points in a comfortable 74-45 win over Sodertalje Kings with the French side going through either as group winners or as one of the two best runners-up.

Chalon edged the opening period before holding their opponents to single figures in the next two quarters as they established a commanding advantage.

Meanwhile, Gaziantep improved to 4-1 with a 100-79 win over BC Mures and will play Chalon next week for top spot in Group K.

Enisey bounce back with comeback win

BC Enisey returned to winning ways after coming from 15 points down to beat Lukoil Academic 97-92 for a vital Group P road victory.

The Russian side had five players in double figures, led by 17 points from Suleiman Braimoh, while Frank Elegar added a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards.

Lukoil raced out of the blocks with a 27-17 opening period and after a rally from the visitors, they pulled away again to lead 72-57 in the third.

A 13-0 response across quarters saw Enisey close within 2 before taking the lead with back-to-back 3-pointers from Vasily Zavoruev en route to closing out the win to improve to 4-1.

"Lately we've been struggling a lot. Bad games, disappointing results, injuries," commented Enisey head coach Oleg Okulov. "Against Lukoil we also started poor, but what helped us and gave us courage, was our faith and patience. We knew Lukoil would try to push us to the wall as soon as they could, from the beginning, but we also knew they had problems and that their bench was short."
