Day 5: France v Serbia headlines Quarter-Finals stage

CRETE (FIBA U20 European Championship 2017) - France and Serbia will headline Quarter-Final action on Day 5 of the FIBA U20 European Championship 2017.

In a contest between two highly talented teams, it is hard to pick favoritism with France unbeaten in the tournament but Serbia's sole loss was against reigning champions Spain by just one point. With both teams boasting numerous stars, it is undoubtedly a mouthwatering contest and the showpiece game of the Quarter-Finals stage.

Iceland will be looking to continue their fairytale tournament when they play unbeaten Israel in their Quarter-Final. Iceland were magnificent against Sweden in the Round of 16 but will need to play even better if they are to knock over a confident Israel, who have been brilliantly led by point guard Tamir Blatt - arguably the best player of the tournament to date.

The game between Germany and Spain looms as a dogfight with the increasingly confident Germans fancying their chances of an upset. Germany knocked over Turkey in the best game of the Round of 16, while Spain easily defeated Latvia but will undoubtedly face a stiffer challenge in the Quarter-Finals.

Finally, hosts Greece will be looking to shrug off a couple of shaky performances when they play Lithuania in the final game of Day 5.

Meanwhile, the teams knocked out in the Round of 16 will play for Classification 9-16. Sweden play Italy, Turkey face Latvia, the Czech Republic will meet Ukraine and Montenegro play Slovenia.
