About Korce

Korçë (definite Albanian form: Korça) is the eighth most populous city of the Republic of Albania. The total population is 75,994, in a total area of 806 km2 (311 sq mi). It stands on a plateau some 850 m (2,789 ft) above sea level, surrounded by the Morava Mountains.

The area of the Old Bazaar, including Mirahori Mosque, is considered as the urban core of the city. There is really a lot to do in Korca, one of Albania's most beautiful cities and unofficial capital of culture. It's known for its role in Albanian culture and intellectual heritage (most famously for being home to the first Albanian language school), world-class museums, beautiful old churches, and pretty architecture.

The small city of Korca in southeastern Albania is 3 hours from Tirana Airport by car. It gets its rather idyllic nickname, ‘The City of Serenades’, from the love ballads men used to belt out from the balconies and courtyards of their enigmatic European villas.
