Teen sensation Maria Vadeeva leads Week 7 Top Performers

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) – Maria Vadeeva delivered a clinical performance on Wednesday to lead Dynamo Kursk past Uni Gyor and headline this week’s EuroLeague Women Top Performers.

The 18-year-old post player shot a perfect 11-of-11 from the field on her way to 22 points and added 6 rebounds and 5 assists for an efficiency rating of 32. What makes her performance the more impressive is that Vadeeva only spent 21 minutes on the court, as Dynamo Kursk eased to a 90-55 victory over Gyor and a perfect 7-0 record in Group A.

Reigning champions UMMC Ekaterinburg faced a more difficult task on their road trip to Poland, but eventually defeated CCC Polkowice 77-64. Brittney Griner led the way for UMMC with a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double as well as 4 blocks, finishing with an efficiency of 26.

Nadezhda’s 64-49 triumph at Perfumerias Avenida rounded out a winning week for the Russian clubs, and Tiffany Mitchell’s fine shooting proved vital for the Russian visitors. The US American guard enjoyed her best game of the EuroLeague Women season so far, as she went off for 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field to assure her spot in the Top Performers.

She is joined in the backcourt by French point guard Olivia Epoupa, who collected 19 points, 5 rebounds and an outstanding 6 steals in ESBVA-LM’s 72-62 win at Uniqa Sopron. Fellow French side BLMA equally enjoyed a win this week, prevailing 74-68 over Wisla Can-Pack. BLMA could once more rely on forward Geraldine Robert, who recorded 25 points, 11 boards and an efficiency of 27 to complete this week’s Top Performers line-up.
