Rio-bound Cora makes move to Fenerbahce

ISTANBUL (EuroLeague Women 2017) – When Ayse Cora returns from next month’s Olympic Games in Rio, she will link up with a different club in Istanbul after it was confirmed she was moving from Besiktas JK to Fenerbahce.

It means the guard will have completed the set of the city’s three biggest clubs, having spent much of her earlier career at fierce rivals Galatasaray, including time spent working with current Turkey national team play-caller Ekrem Memnun.

The 23-year-old scored just under nine points per game last season for Besiktas in both the Turkish League and in EuroCup Women. Now she will make a return to EuroLeague Women and is delighted to have joined a club who is expected to be one of the frontrunners in 2016-17.

"This opens a new page in my life," stated Cora.

"It’s a new thrill to be at a big club like Fenerbahce and I'm excited to be going to play there and I will do everything I can for the team.

"I'm sure that I will encounter a very positive energy as I have seen from outside, just how Fenerbahce fans always support their team on both the good days and the bad days.

"I'm sure it will go well and I will have great pride in playing for Fenerbahce and I hope to find success," she concluded.
