Kobryn keeps Krakow Cup in Wisla Can-Pack cabinet

KRAKOW (EuroLeague Women 2017/EuroCup Women 2017) – Ewelina Kobryn was crowned MVP of the Krakow Cup as host club Wisla Can-Pack celebrated retaining their trophy at the pre-season showdown involving a trio of EuroCup Women entrants.

The superior quality of the only EuroLeague Women club on show was evident as Kobryn poured in a brilliant 27 points in the deciding game as Wisla swept aside Basketball Nymburk 72-55. Ukraine national team center Aleksandra Khomenchuk impressed in defeat with 18 points for the Czech club.

Earlier in the competition, Wisla Can-Pack despatched domestic rivals Basket 90 Gdynia 100-64, with the most notable contributions coming from new arrivals Claudia Pop and Ziomara Morrison who shared 42 points in the success. Wisla also took down Good Angels Kosice, but had to work particularly hard to claim a 66-60 victory, with Kobryn again in super form, adding 18 points.

In the various battles between the EuroCup Women competitors, all the teams managed to find a positive result. Basket 90 Gdynia took a last day 64-61 win against Kosice as veteran guard Jelena Skerovic fired 20 points and also took the prestigious three-point shooting competition title.

Good Angels Kosice had earlier beaten Basketball Nymburk in convincing fashion by 67-47, with Slovenia national team playmaker netting a nice 16-point haul. Nymburk did take heart from beating Gdynia 58-55 in their opening fixture as Romanian star Sonia Ursu accrued 13 points.
