Roundup: Fenerbahce take derby honors, CCC star Clark lands Season MVP award

MUNICH (EuroLeague/EuroCup Women) – Fenerbahce have gone some way to making up for missing out on the EuroLeague Women Final Four by beating Galatasaray, while Alysha Clark of CCC Polkowice is the Polish League MVP.

Fenerbahce ease out Galatasaray in the big Istanbul derby

Valerie Garnier has barely had a week in charge of Fenerbahce but has already gone a long way to cementing her popularity early, after her team came out on top 75-68 against fierce rivals Galatasaray.

The game-winners were Kia Vaughn and Anastasiya Verameyenka who combined for 40 points, with the latter hauling down 9 boards. Jelena Dubljevic and Allie Quigley shared 40 points in defeat.

Leaders Yakin Dogu Universitesi had to work hard to win 76-83 at Adana Aski as Kayla McBride top-scored with 24 points and Courtney Vandersloot, Sandrine Gruda and Quanitra Hollingsworth all amassed double digits. Meanwhile a 14-point and 14-rebound haul for Courtney Paris facilitated a 60-73 success for Hatay at Besiktas as they continue to chase down Yakin Dogu from second spot.

Clark takes MVP award in Polish League as CCC make Semi-Finals

Alysha Clark has been crowned the best player in the Polish League after her outstanding displays for CCC Polkowice. The Israel national team forward was also on hand to help propel her side into the Championship Semi-Finals.


They swept AZS-UMCS Lublin 3-0, with Temi Fagbenle grabbing 19 points and 10 rebounds in the deciding 61-95 win.

Wisla CANPACK booked their place after a dramatic 84-85 triumph at Gorzow as Leonor Rodriguez dropped a superb 30 points. In the other Quarter-Finals, Sleza Wroclaw reached the last four after beating Energa Torun 3-1 and Basket 90 Gdynia are locked 2-2 with Artego Bydgoszcz.

Rodgers drops a game-winning shot on the buzzer for BLMA

There was excitement and drama in the LFB as Sugar Rodgers delivered in the clutch for BLMA as they claimed an 81-78 home win against Lyon, which completed a 27-point MVP effort from the WNBA star.


Top of the table Bourges still look imperious and Diandra Tchatchouang starred with 23 points as they waltzed past Roche Vendee 86-60 at Le Prado. Second-place Carolo Basket were also involved in a one-sided contest as they hammered Tarbes 92-50, with Ukraine forward Valeriya Berezhynska adding 20 points.

Elsewhere in Europe

Famila Schio and Reyer Venezia are both into the Semi-Finals of the Italian Championship after completing 2-0 series wins. Isabelle Yacoubou had 18 points and 11 rebounds for Schio in a 54-80 win at Broni, with Venezia prevailing 44-67 at Turin.

Defending ZBL Champions ZVVZ USK Praha are into the Finals as usual, having relied on 22 points from Katerina Elhotova and 21 points from Marija Rezan to storm past Hradec Kralove 64-98 and take a 2-0 Semi-Finals series win.
