Changes at Fenerbahce as Okul, Powers and Kizer all shown the door

ISTANBUL (EuroLeague Women) - Fenerbahce have fired play-caller Firat Okul and terminated the contracts of forwards Aerial Powers and Lynetta Kizer as they look to turn a page in the wake of their recent EuroLeague Women failure.

The Turkish powerhouse failed to reach the Final Four for the first time since 2011 after they were beaten in the Quarter-Finals by Sopron Basket and Okul has paid the penalty.

Having only been handed the coaching reins a year ago, he guided Fenerbahce to the 2017 EuroLeague Women Final where his side were beaten by Dynamo Kursk. Subsequent losses to Yakin Dogu Universitesi in last year's Turkish Play-Off Finals and not delivering the required silverware or results this season has taken its toll.

Powers had enjoyed her rookie EuroLeague Women season and turned heads with some energetic and productive displays, while the experienced Kizer was a mid-season arrival who has failed to help turn results around.

Fenerbahce lost over the weekend against Cukurova and are now looking for a new head coach to take them forward as the domestic Play-Offs start to approach again.
