Morton, Quiñones, Villalobos excelled on day 4 of Centrobasket

SAN SALVADOR (El Salvador) – The fourth day of action in the Centrobasket tournament saw Puerto Rico punch their ticket to the 2021 Americup, players excelling on both sides of the court with shooting efficiency and rebounding, and all-around drive from teams no matter their standings. Here are the top three stars of Day 4:

Isalys Quiñones (PUR)

Puerto Rico’s 40-point victory helped the team qualify for the 2021 AmeriCup, with Quiñones contributing a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The 23-year-old forward shot 50 percent from the field and 100 percent from the three-point line and also had a tournament high 3 assists in the game. Quiñones is averaging at 10 points per game in Centrobasket action, and is third in the team for efficiency on the court.

Kimberly Villalobos (ESA)

Despite El Salvador’s performance in a tournament with talented opposition, Villalobos has managed to consistently produce on both sides of the court for her country. Against Dominican Republic, Villalobos had 13 points and 14 rebounds, including 10 defesnive rebounds, over triple the amount of any of her teammates. At just 19 years old, Villalobos also tied for first on the team in blocked shots as well as recording 2 assists for El Salvador in the game.

Yohanna Morton (DOM)

Once again Morton was a leading force for Dominican Republic in their win, leading all scorers with 15 points on 54.5 percent shooting from the field as well as 75 percent shooting from the free throw line. Morton also was second on the team in offensive rebounds, nabbing the ball in order to create second chances that helped secure a 24-point win over El Salvador. The veteran’s performance helped Dominican Republic move into third place in Group A, just one point behind Virgin Islands.
