Tate's triple-double, George, Stinson dominated day 3 of Centrobasket

SAN SALVADOR (El Salvador) - Some familiar faces put-up dominant performances on day three of the Centrobasket tournament in El Salvador. From strong passing to efficient three-point shooting, here are the three top players from Friday’s games:

Imani Tate (ISV)

The 25-year-old guard solidified the Virgin Islands’ victory against the Dominican Republic Friday night with her 20-point, 14-rebound and 12-assist triple-double performance. Tate came out of the gates strong, contributing 14 points and seven rebounds in the first half. Despite being down for majority of the game, Tate’s strong play on both sides of the ball cut into the Dominican Republic’s lead in the fourth quarter. Her field goal at 1:50 left in the fourth quarter making it a two-possession sealed it for her team. She secured the victory for her team as she grabbed the offensive rebound with 5 seconds left. It was her unselfish play that was the difference marker for the Virgin Islands.

Anisha Briana George (ISV)

George continued her dominant play against the Dominican Republic. She had a strong presence in the paint once again as she grabbed 12 rebounds, which allowed Dominican Republic to only have 8 second chance points in comparison to the Virgin Islands’ 21 second chance paints. George struggled at the free throw line but contributed 16 points on 54 percent shooting. Overall, it has been a strong showing for the 6’2 center in the Centrobasket tournament.

Jada Shanice Stinson (PUR)

While it was a blowout win for the Puerto Rico against El Salvador, Stinson still racked up 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in just 17 minutes. She continued to shoot efficiently from beyond the arc, hitting 4 out of 6 of her three-pointers. Stinson’s 3 threes late in the second quarter grew Puerto Rico’s lead to as much as 20 points. Her aggressive offensive play in the second half put the game out of reach for El Salvador, beating the hometown team by 42 points.
