Uruguay reveal their 24-player list for games against Argentina and Panama

MONTEVIDEO (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) - The Uruguayan Basketball Federation (FUBB) announced their 24-player list for the second window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers.

Uruguay 24-player preliminary list for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Americas Qualifiers
Hernan Alvarez Joaquin Rodriguez Bruno Fitipaldo Juan Zanotta
Nicolas Borsellino Sebastian Izaguirre Gustavo Barrera Santiago Vidal
Brian Garcia Rodrigo Brause Hernando Caceres Esteban Batista
Jayson Granger Demian Alvarez Facundo Medina Juan Ducasse
Mathias Calfani Hatila Passos Luciano Parodi  Andres Dotti
Federico Pereiras Sebastian Vazquez Gonzalo Iglesias Kiril Wachshmann

The list is led by center Esteban Batista, who holds an average of 17 points, 9.5 rebounds from the first window, which took place last November. His partner in the paint is Mathias Calfani, who averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds in those first games of the window.

As for the guard positions, they welcome back Santiago Vidal, Luciano Parodi and Gustavo Barrera. All three gave outstanding performances in the first window and are currently playing in the Argentine National League.

The deepness of these positions is truly desirable —especially when adding Bruno Fitipaldo, who plays with Avellino in Italy; and point guard Jayson Granger, who plays for Baskonia, in Spain.

Uruguay were undefeated in the first window, after defeating Panama 86-73 and then Paraguay 67-49.

For the upcoming window, the Uruguayans will play both games as visitors. First, in a clash of unbeaten teams against Argentina, in Parque Carlos Guerrero, a sports complex in the city of Olavarría on Friday, February 23; and then against Panama, at the Arena Roberto Durán, on Monday, February 26.
