Scola headlines Argentina’s new 13-player preliminary list for Americas Qualifiers

BUENOS AIRES (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) –Head Coach Sergio Hernandez announced its 13-player list for Argentina’s games against Paraguay and Panama, during the first window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Americas Qualifiers.

Captain Luis Scola headlines the list that also features AmeriCup key players Nicolas Laprovittola, Gabriel Deck, Luicio Redivo, Marcos Delia, Javier Saiz and Maximo Fjellerup.

Nicolas Aguirre, a standout in Argentina's national league back-to-back champions San Lorenzo, and Lautaro Berra, member of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2017 squad that played in Egypt in July, were added to the preliminary list by Hernandez, and could make their official debut with the National Team in La Rioja.

The first window of Americas Qualifiers to the FIBA Basketball World Cup could also feature the return of Matias Sandes and Marcos Mata to the Argentinian National Team, following their inclusion on the preliminary list.

Argentina will begin training for the first window on November 20, will travel on November 22 to La Rioja, and will host Paraguay in La Rioja on November 23. The team will then travel to Panama City to face the Panamanians on November 26.

As part of Group A of Americas Qualifiers, Argentina will first face Uruguay on February 23.
