Ayon, Cruz, Perez highlight Mexico's preliminary list for sold-out game against Argentina and Uruguay

MEXICO CITY (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers) – One day after confirming Mexico’s pivotal game against Argentina on September 14 is sold-out, Head Coach Ivan Deniz announced his 18-player preliminary roster for the September window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers.

 The “Mexican Giant” Gustavo Ayon will suit-up for the Mexicans for the second window in a row and will be a welcoming force in the painted area as the leading rebounder of the team with an average of 12 rebounds per game.

Sharpshooters Francisco Cruz, Orlando Mendez and Alex Perez have shown their offensive repertoire during the Qualifiers and have become fundamental powerhouses for the team’s aspirations. Pako Cruz currently ranks as top scorer for the Americas Qualifiers with an average of 26 points per game.

Mexico’s preparations for the window will begin on September 6, under the watchful eye of Ivan Deniz and coaching staff.

On September 14, a packed Gimnasio Olimpico Juan de la Barrera will serve as backdrop when Mexico receives a star-studded Argentinian squad with names like Luis Scola, Facundo Campazzo and Gabriel Deck.

The “12 Guerreros” will then travel to Montevideo to face Uruguay on September 17.
