KOR - Ha returns to squad after two-year absence

SEOUL (FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Korea have named a 24-strong player pool to draw from for the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain and the Asian Games in Incheon.

Ha Seung-Jin, the 2.21m center who was once on the books of the Portland Trail Blazers, has been included in the squad after a two-year absence.

"Ha Seung-Jin is healthier than ever," coach Yoo Jae-Hak said.

"For the past two years, no one in our team has been taller than 6ft 9in (2.08m) Kim Jongkyu."

Oh Se-Keun (foot) and Choi Jin-Soo (shoulder), who were both injured and unable to help at last year's FIBA Asia Championship, are fit and able to play at the World Cup, where Korea will take on Australia, Slovenia, Angola, Lithuania and Mexico in Group D.

All of the players in last year's team, with the exception of Eric Sandrin (aka Lee Seung Jung), are in the group.

Sandrin is recovering from injury, so Moon Tae-Jong (aka Jarod Stevenson) will take his place as the team's naturalized player.

"We are disappointed that Lee (Sandrin) could not recover in time for training with the national team," Yoo said.

"We must accept the doctor's advice for his complete recovery.

"Considering how well Lee was playing for us, I am confident that we have not seen the last of him."

Korea University's Lee Jong-Hyun is still an amateur but that hasn't stopped him representing the national team the past couple of summers.

He is in the pool of players and looks forward to taking part.

"Playing with the seniors against other skilled players has shown me that I have a long way to go," he said.

"I am just trying to get better as I earn more experience."
