FIBA - Trophy Tour with an Olympic feel in Athens

ATHENS (FIBA Basketball World Cup) - This weekend (Saturday 7-Sunday 8 June) sees the Trophy Tour pay a visit to Athens, Greece for the fourth stop of its European leg.

There will be a very distinct Olympic feel about the event, with the action taking place in the city's Olympic Sports Complex (OAKA).

The Trophy Tour and Road Show 2014 will be setting camp under the arc built by Calatrava for the Olympic complex (Irini metro station).

As always, fans and passers-by will get the chance to have their picture taken with the Naismith Trophy and to spend time with past, present and future figures of Greek basketball, including player-turned-coach Dimitrios Papanikolaou, former youth national team guard Manolis Papamakarios as well as Ioannis Kalampokis and Dimitris Tsaldaris.

The ultimate fan experience will be complete thanks to the Road Show 2014 articulated full-size truck (with its travelling exhibit that features unique pieces of history as well as fun games and activities) and two Trophy Tour courts where participants can show off their skills and take part in contests for a chance to win great Spain 2014 prizes.

On Friday, the Naismith Trophy - given to the winners of the FIBA Basketball World Cup - appeared on Greece's national broadcaster Antenna TV in the company of Papanikolaou, Papamakarios and Vlanto Giankovits, who could figure for the team bound for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
