EUROLEAGUE - World Cup flavor to All-Euroleague teams

BARCELONA (Euroleague) - The best players in Europe will be among the star attractions at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.

That has been reconfirmed with the presence of several World Cup-bound players in the All-Euroleague First and Second Teams.

Real Madrid's Spain internationals Sergio Rodriguez and Rudy Fernandez, and Croatia's Ante Tomic have been named in the First Team, along with EA7 Armani Milan scoring machine Keith Langford and CSKA Moscow's Sonny Weems.

Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos and Greece has made the All-Euroleague Second Team, along with Maccabi Tel Aviv's Georgia international Ricky Hickman, Real Madrid's Nikola Mirotic, CSKA's Russia national team forward Viktor Khryapa and Panathinaikos shot-swatter Stephane Lasme.

Fans and media voted for the players.

Both Fernandez and Tomic were members of the All-Euroleague First Team last season.

The former reacted on with his @rudy5fernandez Twitter account.

He tweeted: "What an honour to be again in #AllEuroleagueFirstTeam14 with my bro @SergioRodriguez and the amazing players #Weems #Tomic, #Langford thanks."

There is speculation that Turkey will naturalize Langford and have him in their World Cup squad when they play against the USA, Finland, the Dominican Republic, Ukraine and New Zealand in Group C.

Langford, a 30-year-old guard from the USA, tweeted with his @keith_langford account: "...Just continuing to show people and this younger generation there's life/legacy/money outside the NBA..."

Partizan Belgrade's Bogdan Bogdanovic, meanwhile, is the winner of the Rising Star Trophy.

The honor is chosen by the Euroleague coaches.

Bogdanovic will be in Serbia's lineup at the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The Euroleague Final Four takes place in Milan, Italy, from 16-18 May, with Real facing Barcelona in one semifinal and CSKA squaring off against Maccabi in the other.
