Palestine vs Jordan: Round 2

AMMAN (Jordan) - Palestine didn’t have to travel too far to Jordan to play in these final few games of the Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers. If they aim to travel further all the way to Indonesia to be one of the teams at Asia Cup 2021, they’ll have to go through the host team of this bubble, Jordan, who are hungry to prove themselves as one of the best teams in contention to make it to the grand stage.

When: June 14, 2021
Where: Prince Hamza Hall in Amman, Jordan

Hi, Neighbor

As neighboring countries, Palestine and Jordan have maintained a friendly rivalry throughout the years. Some of the players, despite being on different national teams, even grew up playing with each other.

It’s a (relatively) friendly atmosphere when these two teams go up against one another, but don’t mistake that as a lack of competitiveness. Neither Jordan nor Palestine will back down when going against each other, so expect the sparks to fly.

Palestine are currently at third place in the group with a 2-3 record. They will now have to battle through the Qualifying Tournament for Third Place Teams to reach the Asia Cup. However, they can still come away out of the Amman bubble with a signature win over Jordan.

Jordan are undefeated in Group F and have currently qualified for Asia Cup 2021.

Rematch!

The fun part about this match-up is that it will be the second one that we've had in the past three days.

Palestine managed to keep the score close in the first half of that first game, so fans know that they have the potential to pull of the upset. However, they will need a lot more from their support cast outside of Sani Sakakini and Kyndall Dykes.

Player to Watch - Ahmad Al Dwairi (JOR)

No one or nothing has seemed to be able to stop Ahmad Al Dwairi. The 28-year-old giant has had his way in the paint, on his way to averaging 23.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per contest.

It seemed as if Palestine might have found his weakness after Al Dwairi went 2-5 from the free-throw line in his first game. However, he proceeded to head on into the game against Kazakhstan and miss only 3 of 17 attempts.
