Korea trounce India for third straight win

BANGKOK, Thailand (FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women 2016) – Korea hardly had any trouble trouncing India, 69-27, on Day 4 of the FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Turning point: India fought hard to stick with Korea in the first quarter as they trailed by 1 point (13-12), however, the Korean's exploded immediately at the start of the second quarter, scoring 16 unanswered baskets for a commanding 33-16 Half-Time lead. In the next twenty minutes India only scored 11 points to finish the game with tournament low 27 points.

Stats don’t lie: India had 20 turnovers during the game, all thanks to Korea's tight defense, Korea meanwhile had only 5. The East Asians also shared the ball better with 14 assists compared to India's 3. All 12 players from Korea had their name on the scoresheet.

Game hero: Despite playing only 17 minutes in the game, Juyeon Lee finished with game-high 12 points, shooting 50% in the process. She also collected 4 rebounds and had 3 steals.

The bottom line: As we have seen so far, Korea have a mean defense that's very tough for opposition to break. China were the only team who managed to score 70 points against them so far. Morale is high now in the Korean camp and the coach will be hoping to get the same production from her players in the semi-finals. On the other side, India will battle with the winner of Level II in the qualifying round.
