Wednesday’s Top 5 Players at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2016

CHENZHOU (FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2016) - Day 4 at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2016 in Chenzhou-Hunan continued to provide high levels of action and excitement. Al Ahli outlasted Al Shorta for their second straight win, and Barsy Atyrau finally broke through the win column. Petrochimi and Al Riyadi, meanwhile, both preserved their unbeaten slates to set things up for what should be a very intense match up on Day 5.

FIBA.com presents the Top 5 performers from Tuesday.

Pavel Micheev
The 2.00m forward continued to impress for Barsy Atyrau on Wednesday, scoring 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting for the Kazakhs despite losing to Al Shorta in their final Group B game. Micheev also added a dozen rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal to his name. He will need even bigger numbers if they are to upset Al Riyadi in the Quarter-Finals tomorrow.

Dewarwick Spencer
On Wednesday’s West Asia derby in Group A, Dewarwick Spencer came to fore and led Al Riyadi past Petrochimi. The 34-year-old American import flashed fine form, scoring 23 points on top of 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal as the Lebanese club swept their first four games to enter the Quarter-Finals as the first place team of Group A.

Andray Blatche
Blatche was going through the motions against an obviously overmatched Malaysia Dragons squad, but the 2.11m center still managed to put up an impressive stat-line. He scored 21 points in 21 minutes for China Kashgar, shooting 7-of-11 from the field to go along with 14 rebounds and 3 assists.

Darius Adams
China’s other import, American guard Darius Adams, also exhibited strong play in their final Group B game. Adams dropped 30 points in just 17 minutes of action, shooting 12-of-18 from the field, including 5 triples. He also added 4 assists, 3 boards and 2 steals to his ledger, and he should continue to be a top performer for the club as they try to snag China’s fourth Champions Cup title.

Abudushamalu Abudurexiti
20-year-old Abudurexiti played mainly off the bench in China’s first few games, but he got a lot of burn on the floor on Wednesday’s victory over the Malaysia Dragons. The 2.03m wingman tickled the twine three times from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points. He also hauled down 10 rebounds and handed out 4 assists in a surprisingly efficient show of skill.
