FIBA ​​U16 Americas Championships record 3.9 million livestream views

ARGENTINA (FIBA U16 Americas) - The support for participating teams in the Americas’ youth championships held this month extended well beyond the venues. Basketball fans around the globe got the opportunity to follow all of the action from the FIBA ​​U16 Americas Championships in Buenos Aires and Formosa. FIBA's social media platforms, and participating national federation Facebook pages, recorded more than 3.9 million views of their livestream broadcasts during the 10 days of competition and 40 total games.

The FIBA ​​U16 Women's Americas Championship, held from June 7 to 11 in Benos Aires, got 1.8 million views (90 thousand per game) on Facebook and Youtube, a figure that represents a 118% increase compared to last year's FIBA ​​U18 Women's Americas Championship.

The men's edition of the FIBA ​​U16 Americas Championship, held from June 14 to 18 in Formosa, registered 2.1 million views (105 thousand per game) on Facebook and YouTube, a 63% increase compared to the FIBA ​​U18 Americas Championship last year.

The two tournaments combined for an 85% increase compared to the views recorded on the online broadcasts of last year’s Americas youth championships.

The livestreams also had over 130,000 likes and were shared more than 22,000 times on Facebook, with USA Basketball, Canada Basketball and the Argentina Basketball Confederation being able to broadcast their national team games live. 

The USA claimed the titles in both events.

The FIBA ​​U16 Americas Women's Championship tipped off a season of youth competitions, with more than 25 events and 1,000 games that can be viewed for free on FIBA's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels.
