InterClube, Ferroviario in Title Game at FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup 2018

MAPUTO (FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup 2018) - Ahead of Sunday's FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup 2018 title game between hosts Ferroviario de Maputo of Mozambique and InterClube de Luanda from Angola, FIBA.basketball compiled five questions to help you understand the magnitude of the game.

Can Ferroviario beat InterClube in the title game?

This is a rematch of the FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup Final held at Maxaquene Gymnasium - the so-called Cathedral of Mozambique basketball.

At the time, the Angolans upset the hosts 67-49 to establish and extend their continental success of five FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup titles.

And although Ferroviario returned the favour last year in the Semi-Final in the Angolan capital, it's their latest meeting earlier this week that has raised more questions than answers.

InterClube emphatically beat Ferroviario 77-70  in Group A to stay perfect in the competition.

On Sunday, Ferroviario de Maputo (5-1) and InterClube (6-0) return to the Maxaquene Gymnasium, in what can be a game-changer for the hosts.

Can Ferroviario become first Mozambique club to win the African title in six years?

Back in 2012, Liga Desportiva stormed into Cote d'Ivoire largest city of Abidjan to win the continental title, after beating InterClube.

Due to administrative reasons, Liga Desportiva ceased operations the following year, a decision that left  Mozambican clubs in a desperate hunt to end silverware drought.

Can InterClube extend continental winning streak?

The Angolans reached the tournament title game undefeated in six games. If they beat Ferroviario on Sunday, InterClube would establish an unparalleled six African titles.

Why Angolans tend to be successful in Mozambique?

There isn't a scientific explanation as to why Angolan clubs and national teams tend to be so successful facing Mozambican opposition on Mozambique soil.

Time and time again, Mozambique fans show up in big numbers in support of their heroes, but inexplicably Angolans often come up victorious.

Some fans might still remember how Angola upset Mozambique in 2013 to clinch their second FIBA Women's AfroBasket title in front of a sellout Maxaquene Gymnasium crowd.

The rivalry between Mozambique and Angola is real.

Win at third attempt?

Ferroviario de Maputo have reached the Final in the last two editions of FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup title game, but they fell short on both occasions. Can they lift the trophy at third attempt?
