Competition System

The competing teams will participate in the Basketball Africa League (Road to BAL) 2024 Qualifying Tournament.

The Group Stages will take place from 06 to 24 October 2024.

QUALIFICATION SYSTEM

Group Phase

The registered teams will be divided into five groups of 4 to 5 teams.
The West Division comprise of Groups A, B and East Division will comprise of Groups C, D, E.
Each team will play one game against the other team in their group.

The first team that finish in the top place of each group will qualify for Elite 16 Round.

Certain teams may also qualify as Wild Cards on the basis of their sporting results, as well as the NBA Academy team and teams who took part in the last BAL tournament and are champions in their respective countries.

Below is the composition of the groups:

Five (5) cities: Benghazi (Libya), Yaounde (Cameroon), Gaborone (Botswana), Dar Es Salam (Tanzania) and Antananarivo  (Madagascar) will host the Group Phase.

 Elite 16 Round

The 16 teams will be divided into two (2) groups (E and F) of eight (8) teams each.
Elite 16 Round will take place later in November with Group E and Group F.
The teams that finish in the top three places of Groups E and F will qualify for the Final Phase of Basketball Africa league.
These six teams will join the six automatically-qualified teams from Angola, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia and Rwanda.
