Top 5 Performances from Day 2 of FIBA Africa Basketball League 2019

CAIRO (Egypt) - Four games into Group C of the FIBA Africa Basketball League (ABL) 2019, and the number of top performers continues to increase.

In the aftermath of D'Agosto's qualification to the Elite 8 and Al Ahly’s significant win over Ferroviario, FIBA.basketball selected five performances that couldn't go unnoticed.

 Ramy Gunady (Al Ahly)

The Egyptian international was almost perfect, hitting 6 of his 7 field goals and contribute a much-needed 15 points off the bench. He ended up being Al Ahly's inspiration for the remainder of the contest.

While playing on foul limits (4), Gunady also contributed four assists and added two steals which resulted in two successful counter-attacks.

Robinson Opong (Ferroviario da Beira)

Ferroviario may have lost a chance of moving to the ELITE 8, but the Ugandan international did a bit of everything.

The 1.93m (6ft3in) shooting guard not only led the Locomotive's offense with 20 points, but he did the hard job in the defense end.

Opong finished with team-highs 20 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists in 40 minutes.

Islando  Manuel (Primeiro D'Agosto)

With the Angolan champions struggling  to find a way out of REG, head coach Paulo Macedo turned to his bench to find a highly-motivated Manuel eager to turn things around.

And the Angolan international did just that by hitting 4 of his 8 three-points attempts en route to a game-high 26 points. Three of Manuel's four three-pointers came in the last three minutes of the game when D'Agosto needed him most.

Engelbert Beleck (Rwanda Energy Group)

Beleck has become one of the must-watch player in this four-team tournament for some good reasons, and on Saturday he recalled us why.

It wasn't just about his second straight double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds) in two straight games that he makes this top-5 performers lists, but it was mainly about his tenacity and determination to fight for every ball possession.

Beleck refused to go down easily and his REG almost caused the biggest upset in the tournament so far.

Todd O'Brien (Al Ahly)

O'Brien stepped up when the Egyptian champions needed him most. The seven-footer dominated at both ends of the floor to finish with crucial 16 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots.
