Ten USA players in U19 training camp with youth titles

COLORADO SPRINGS (USA) - USA Basketball have invited 10 players with title-winning experience among the 35-player pool for training camp ahead of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2023, where United States look to win their ninth title and fifth in the last six editions.

Jeremy Fears Jr., Johnuel ‘Boogie’ Fland, Ian Jackson, Karter Knox and Asa Newell were all part of the USA team that won the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2022 while Fears and Jackson also helped USA win the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2021.

 

Kylan Boswell and Liam McNeeley were also part of the U16 Americas side two summers ago while USA Basketball included Mark Armstrong, Eric Dailey Jr and Kel’el Ware from the team that claimed the trophy at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2022.

The team also includes big names such as high school prospects Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper and Tre Johnson - the top three players in ESPN’s rankings for the 2024 high school class.

 

The training camp list also features Colorado-bound Cody Williams, AJ Johnson, who will be heading to Australia to play for the Illawarra Hawks of the NBL, and college teammates at Iowa State Omaha Biliew, Milan Momcilovic and Jackson Paveletzke.

 

Head coach Tad Boyle, who led the team at the U18 Americas event last summer, will start training camp on June 11. USA will be playing in Group B in Hungary starting on June 24 when they face Madagascar. USA will also take on Slovenia and Lebanon in the group.
