BEIRUT (Lebanon) - Records are meant to be broken, as they say.

So, observers are keen if the individual single-game regular season records set in the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) inaugurals could be surpassed come the 2023-24 festivities, especially with more elite talent coming in due to the arrival of new ball clubs into the competition.

Will these be topped?

Edgar Sosa's 46 points

Given his stature as one of the league's most prolific bucket-getters, it should no longer come as a surprise that Edgar Sosa owns the FIBA WASL single-game scoring record.

The veteran guard lit up the scoreboard with 46 points against Al Riyadi in a WASL-West Asia Group Phase encounter last March 9, although Al Naft fell short to the eventual sub-zone champs.

It's worth noting, too, that the sub-zone's top three scoring records is owned by Sosa, who finished the season's best scorer with a per-game average of 34.7 points.

Arsalan Kazemi's 20 rebounds

No one across FIBA WASL could collect 20 rebounds in a game until Arsalan Kazemi changed that.

Although his ZobAhan bowed to Beirut Club in the WASL-West Asia Third-Place Game decider, the 'Persian Prince' gave it his all with 10 points, 20 boards, 8 assists, and 1 steal in 38 minutes.

Hopefully, we also get to see the first 20-20 in the league next season.

Saeed Alajmani's 13 assists

Saeed Alajmani put up one of the more unique stat lines in the league during Shabab Al Ahli-Dubai's eventual loss to Kazma in a Group Phase clash between WASL-Gulf League teams.

The veteran floor general scored just 1 point -- not that he wasn't taking shots on purpose, as evidenced by the three shots he took -- but was of help on other facets, especially in facilitating for others that ultimately led to him tallying a FIBA WASL-record 13 assists.

Alajmani played 34 minutes in that match and also collected 9 rebounds and 4 steals.

Steals: 4 with 6

Yousiff Borhamah set the FIBA WASL record for most steals in a game with 6 in their victory over Al Bashaer in a Gulf League Group Phase matchup last March.

That, until three more players tied the mark -- all in the month of April.

Freddy Ibrahim was the first to join Borhamah in the record list, when he helped Orthodox Amman beat Al Riyadi to push their WASL-West Asia Qualification to Semi-Finals series to a Game 3.

Two weeks later (April 20), Farid Aslani became the third to do so, although ZobAhan Isfahan lost to Shahrdari Gorgan in Game 2 of their WASL-West Asia best-of-3 Semis.

Marcus Georges-Hunt would become the fourth one just five days later to help Kuwait Club reach the WASL-Gulf League Final at the expense of Shabab Al Ahli-Dubai.

Can somebody get 7 in Season 2?

Salah Mejri's 6 blocks

Salah Mejri stamped his class the moment he entered FIBA WASL.

The FIBA Afrobasket legend set the league's single-game blocks record with 6 to help Kazma end Shabab Al Ahli-Dubai's unbeaten four-game run in the WASL-Gulf League Group Phase.

That game also saw the former NBA cager tally 19 points and 17 rebounds with 3 steals, quickly establishing how integral he'd be for that club later on in that season.

The previous record was 5, which was set thrice by Orthodox Amman's Khaled Abuaboud, Cody Lalanne of Kuwait Club, and Al Hilal star Mohammed Alsuwailem, in that order.
