FIBA WASL-West Asia Season 2 Final schedule confirmed
The FIBA Regional Office-Asia has confirmed the schedule of the 2023-24 FIBA WASL-West Asia League Final.
BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia on Friday, April 19, has confirmed the schedule of the 2023-24 FIBA WASL - West Asia League Final.
Game 1 of the best-of-3 championship series between Al Riyadi and Shahrdary Gorgan will be on Thursday, April 25, at the Stade Nouhad Nawfal in Zouk Mikael.
Tip-off is set at 20:30 local time, with Al Riyadi looking to defend their sub-zone league crown against the very same club they swept in the inaugural West Asia finale.
But they will be facing a Gorgan team whose composition is different from last season, and are coming into the title bout unbeaten with a clean 7-0 record.
The reigning Iranian champions were the first to book a return trip to the West Asia Final after sweeping Iraqi side Al Shorta in their best-of-3 Semi-Final affair.
Al Riyadi followed suit, but not before overcoming a tough challenge by Sagesse in another chapter of their long-standing rivalry that saw the series go the distance.
Battling in the Third-Place Game, meanwhile, will be Al Shorta and Sagesse on Wednesday, April 24, at the Ghazir Club Stadium in Lebanon. The knockout match is set at 21:45 local time.
Winner of that game will join Al Riyadi and Gorgan as the three representatives of the West Asia League in the culminating FIBA WASL Final 8.
