How to Qualify

The 40 teams qualified thanks to being hosts, the medalists of the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2019 and the position of the national federation in the 3x3 Federation Ranking at the cut-off date (1 November 2019 in this case)

The 3x3 Federation Ranking is based on the 3x3 Individual World Ranking.

The 3x3 Individual World Ranking takes into account the number of points collected by players in the last 12 months. National Federations are ranked according to the aggregate points tallied by their Top 100 nationals in the 3x3 Individual World Ranking in the relevant category (here men on the one side and women on the other side), who have a confirmed play.fiba3x3.com account.

The 3x3 Federation Ranking not only rewards the elite performances of the players but also the 3x3 activity in the territory of each National Federation. The position in the 3x3 Federation Ranking is driven by the number of players and their playing frequency. The more events are organised the more likely players will accumulate points and increase the national federation's standing in the 3x3 Federation Ranking.

The teams qualified based on ranking are not necessarily the top teams in the 3x3 Federation Ranking because:

  • A maximum of 10 teams can come from the same continent.
  • A minimum of 30 countries and territories must participate.

The last 10 berths in each gender will be allocated following the Federation Ranking List only if the respective NOC has not already a team in any gender qualified
