    Senegal, Serbia make big climbs in 2016 FIBA World Ranking Women

    MIES (FIBA World Ranking Women) - Senegal and Serbia have jumped highest in the latest FIBA World Ranking Women following their participation in the 2016 Olympics.

    The Senegalese, winners of the AfroBasket Women 2015, climbed nine rungs on the ladder to No. 17 while Serbia, who lost their first three games but went on to capture the Olympic Bronze Medal Game over France, moved up five places to No. 9.


    Serbia overcame a terrible start to win the bronze medal

    Spain, who won a dramatic Quarter-Final against Turkey and then beat Serbia to reach the Gold Medal Game, are now No. 2 while France are No. 3.

    Australia fell in a big upset to Serbia in the Quarter-Finals and dropped to No. 4 while Canada, Turkey and Japan, beaten Quarter-Finalists in Rio, rose three places each and are No. 6, No. 7 and No. 13, respectively.

    New Zealand, after missing a second consecutive Olympics, plummeted 16 spots to No. 38.
