Neighbours to fight for fifth place at U19 Women's Worlds
CHEKHOV (2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship) - France and Belgium will fight it out for fifth place in a European derby clash on the final day of the 2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship in Chekhov.
Both nations bounced straight back from their disappointment in the Quarter-Finals to take victories against China and Canada respectively.
Marie Milapie was a towering presence in the paint for the French as they collected a hard fought 67-61 triumph.
The forward garnered 17 points and claimed eight rebounds which helped the winning team stave off a late rescue mission by China who had trailed by as many as 16.
Jinbo Xing poured in 19 points for China who will play for seventh place against Canada after the latter fell 70-64 to Belgium - despite 20 points from Bridget Carleton.
Once again Belgium captain Julie Allemand showed her class with a sparkling 24 points, while Heleen Nauwelaers added 15 points to set up the last day showdown against France who the beat during the first phase of the competition.
