Draw Principles
The participating teams of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Pre-Qualifying Tournaments have been distributed in four pots created to reflect the strength of the continents based on the current FIBA World Ranking Women, presented by Nike.
The two hosts, Mexico and Rwanda, are placed in the Pot 1. The remaining teams are distributed in the pots based on the FIBA World Ranking Women.
The pots are as follows:
POT 1: Mexico, Rwanda, Brazil, Korea
POT 2: Hungary, Mali, Great Britain, Montenegro
POT 3: Czechia, Senegal, New Zealand, Argentina
POT 4: Mozambique, Venezuela, Philippines, Lebanon
By the draw, the teams from each pot will be distributed in four groups, and at the same time, they will be assigned the competition numbers automatically. Teams in Pot 1 will be assigned the competition number 1, Teams from Pot 2 will be assigned the competition number 2, and so on.
There will be one team per region in each group.
Groups A and B will be playing in Mexico and groups C and D in Rwanda.
Consequently, Mexico will be drawn in the group A or B and Rwanda in the group C or D.
