Equipment & Venue Centre partner Sport System on show

MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA places great importance on providing the highest standard of basketball equipment and facilities throughout its competitions and understands the importance of attaining top-level quality, safety and technology for all players.

FIBA achieves this through its Equipment & Venue Centre's network of 100 partners who provide basketball equipment for various projects around the world. Sport System S.R.L., an Italian-based sports equipment manufacturer, which has been in operation for 42 years, specializes in basketball backstops. Sport System has been a valuable partner for FIBA's Equipment & Venue Centre since 1997 and strives to meet the priority of having the latest technology in their equipment.

Sport System has provided backstop units for various FIBA events over the years, including this year's Basketball Champions League Final 8 that was held in Russia, and also the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers that were held in Croatia leading up to FIBA's flagship event, to name a few.  Sport System will also be providing the backstops in Lativa and Hungary for the upcoming FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup and the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in July and August this year.

Simone Pradal, who has been with the company for two decades and now its co-owner and export manager, says Sport System is constantly working to improve technology, and that several prototypes of its backstops for FIBA are currently being tested.

Sport System is a modern company that adapts to the needs of its clients. The company is largely responsible for the futuristic and well-received Recreation and Sports Center of the Bocconi University in Milan.

Sport System recently installed a complete package of equipment and furnishings at the location, marrying style and functionality.  The Equipment & Venue Centre partner provided a pair of Hydroplay Ace basketball backstops and a pair of ceiling-mounted basketball backstops.

An important criteria for the Equipment & Venue Centre is for its suppliers to prioritize sustainability when making products. FIBA is a member of the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework and even received an award from the International Olympic Committee for its commitment to climate leadership in sport in 2020.

In this regard, Pradal says: "The company is vigorously working on sustainability of materials used in the production of its main products, including portable basketball backstops."

The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre offers a global platform to find the highest level of quality, testing and innovation related to basketball equipment and software.
