BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office - Asia successfully held a Sports Performance Specialist (SPS) workshop in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 3-4 March 2023. This workshop is part of FIBA’s initiative to strengthen the physical training skills of local coaches and promote strength and conditioning in basketball.
The SPS program aims to provide coaches, athletes, and stakeholders with knowledge and skills on how to improve athletic capabilities and prevent injuries in basketball. The workshop was well-attended, with participants actively engaging in both theoretical and practical sessions.
One of the participants, Mr. Chayut Rattanamongko, expressed his appreciation for the program, saying, “It was a clear lecture and all of my questions were answered.”
Ms. Uraiwan Pinkloa also shared how useful the program was, saying, “The knowledge we've learned is very useful, we will apply it to our team. Thank you very much for SPS Level 1. I can't wait for the next level.”
Mr. Lewan Sundusit commended the program, particularly the warm-up session. Meanwhile, Ms. Natthaya Phusanawiwat left with a hunger for more as she suggested a longer program duration, as well as the inclusion of practical sessions during the theoretical sessions.
The success of the SPS program in Chiang Mai is a testament to the Regional Office’s dedication to empowering local coaches and promoting strength and conditioning in basketball. With previous successful programs held inLebanon, Palestine, Qatar, Maldives, Syria, Mongolia, Iraq, Singapore, Kuwait, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, the Regional Office continues to lay the foundation of physical training through education to elevate the standard of strength and conditioning coaches in basketball.
