Gilas set Asian Qualifiers rebounding record

The Philippines pull down 61 boards, including 20 on the offensive glass, to launch their World Cup 2027 qualification campaign in dominant fashion.

YIGO VILLAGE (Guam) - Debutants Guam had a rude awakening in their first-ever World Cup Qualifiers game.

Facing their Pacific rivals, Guam struggled to control the glass, as Philippines broke the Asian Qualifiers rebounding record previously held by Iran and Lebanon.

With 61 rebounds, including 20 at the offensive end, Gilas Pilipinas bettered the earlier mark of 59, first reached by Lebanon in 2021 against Indonesia, and matched by Lebanon the next year versus Syria.

Incredibly, all 12 Philippine players grabbed at least 1 rebound, with centers Quentin Millora-Brown and June Mar Fajardo leading the way with 10 boards each.
