GYOR (EuroBasket Women 2015) - Teenage ace Maria Vadeeva underlined why she is one of the most exciting prospects in the women's game after firing Russia into the Quarter-Finals of EuroBasket Women 2015.
Still only 16 years old, Vadeeva confirmed her status as a star in the making after she corralled a stellar 22 points as Russia secured a 75-61 victory against Slovak Republic to condemn their opponents to a fourth straight loss.
It brought gushing praise afterwards from Russia head coach Anatoliy Myshkin, who continues to trust the youngster to deliver when it matters most.
"I would like to thank my young girl Maria for her work today," said the play-caller with a broad smile.
"I like to work with the young players and especially with their first steps in the national team and I want to thank Maria for believing in me and that is why I believe in her.
"I am a little bit jealous that she has such a lot of time to develop and it is such a great time for her.
"I also want to thank all of my players as they followed my instructions and did what we had been working on, so I would like to give them credit for that."
Also heading to Budapest are Spain who were already safely into the last eight ahead of their bruising encounter with Serbia.
Lucas Mondelo and his team rode out 91-80 winners as they turned on the style during the last quarter.
Alba Torrens led the way with 25 points, Astou Ndour claimed a double-double and her frontcourt partner Laura Nicholls enjoyed a sensational shooting night with 20 points from a wonderful 9 of 11 from the floor.
Despite the loss, Serbia will still go through and that leaves Lithuania and Slovak Republic battling for the last ticket to the final phase.
Lithuania boosted their hopes of progressing after extinguishing the hopes of Croatia with a convincing 83-64 triumph as Gintare Petronyte recorded 18 points.
