MIAMI (United States) – The FIBA Youth Development Program (YDP) visited Brazil, during the Brazilian Interclub U-15 Championship, which took place between September 18 and 23, in Flamengo, Rio of Janeiro.
The 12 best clubs in the South American country participated in the under-15 category: Botafogo, Paulistano, Flamengo, Curitibano, Regatas, Ginástica, Pinheiros, SESI Franca, Olympico, São Paulo, Palmeiras and Corinthians.
As part of the YDP agenda, meetings were held with the technical staff of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation, to review the competition system, youth development and the youth teams of that country. There was also a conversation with the technical bodies of the 12 teams about competition systems, technical planning, and youth development.
In addition, the best 25 prospects in the championship were selected and physical measurements were performed to begin a technical evaluation of their development in the coming years.
“This partnership with FIBA and FIBA Americas has been growing every year and this approach between the entities is essential to exchange knowledge and identify new values for Brazilian basketball. We will have a lot to gain from this news,” its president Guy Peixoto Jr. said in a CBB press release.
