CALI (Colombia) – Yago Santos and Bruno Caboclo starred in Brazil’s 103-88 victory over Venezuela during Window 3 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers. In a window filled with national stars, the South American squad made no exception. Yago delivered his best performance of the Qualifiers, finishing with 20 points, 13 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals for an efficiency rating of 34.
The 13 assists by the point guard, who recently played for Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, tied the second-highest single-game assist total in the history of the Americas Qualifiers, matching Gavin Clarke of the Bahamas. The record belongs to Paul Stoll of Mexico, who recorded 14 assists. Caboclo, meanwhile, made his first appearance of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers and led Brazil in scoring with 22 points, while adding 5 rebounds and 1 assist. The veteran big man was flawless from the free-throw line, going 8-for-8.
Brazil improved to 5-0 in the First Round alongside Canada as the only two unbeaten teams in the competition. This time, Aleksandar Petrovic’s squad relied on their outstanding perimeter shooting, knocking down 18 three-pointers, the fifth-highest single-game total in the history of the Americas Qualifiers. Brazil will return to action on Monday at Coliseo Evangelista Mora in Cali, where they will face Colombia looking to extend their unbeaten run and carry momentum into the Second Round. The team has already secured qualification.
