Emma Meesseman showed her class as usual as she attained the joint-highest performance efficiency valuation of the day at 31. That came in an 89-75 success against Türkiye as the forward posted her top score in the competition with 27 points - aldo adding 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
Korea dished out a stunning 32 assists as they raced clear of Nigeria 99-81. It was Jihyun Park and Leeseul Kang that excelled, with the former posting arguably her best ever game in a national team jersey.
Park did the business at both ends of the court with a super 27 points, 6 steals and 6 rebounds to record a performance efficiency valuation of 31. Meanwhile Kang weighed in with 20 points, 7 assists and 5 boards.
Sika Kone did everything she could do inspire Mali in their opening day shootout with Japan. But despite a fine double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, as well as 5 assists, her team were edged out 102-97.
Much of that was down to a record=-breaking three-point shooting effort from Japan who made an unprecedented 20 triples in the game. Saki Hayashi also set an all-time individual high with 9 shots from downtown as she harvested 27 points and 3 rebounds.
