MIES (Switzerland) - In red-hot form over recent months, Dutch star Worthy de Jong moved up to the Number One spot in the individual world ranking on August 28.

Though making his 3x3 debut in 2018, it wasn’t until 2022 that de Jong made waves in the pro circuit. He quickly became not only a walking highlight reel, dazzling fans with his offensive prowess, but also a key element of the Dutch 3x3 system.

He was crucial to the Netherlands national side while also leading the charge in the World tour circuit for team Utrecht followed by his current run with team Amsterdam.

The 2024 season would see him ascend to the top spot. The 36 year-old started off with an MVP performance at the FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Utsunomiya, Japan where they would book their ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

He went on to shine in the world tour circuit yet again, leading the way for his side with a stop win in Ulaanbaatar.

His crowning moment would come at the biggest stage though, as he would put up yet another MVP showing at the Paris Olympics to earn the Dutch a Gold medal.

It would be a poetic win for de Jong with a 2-pointer in Overtime putting a bow on what’s been a historic season for the Dutchman.

His recent success in marquee events alongside his individual impact on winning performances officially earned him the top spot in the ranking.

With a lot more tournaments to come and the top stars in 3x3 vying for the spot, it remains to be seen if Worthy de Jong will be able to hold on and finish the year on top.
