ROSARIO/SANTA FE (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Things are heating up at the FIBA U18 Basketball World Cup 2018, with the completion of the Round of 16 on Wednesday. Here we look at the Top 5 individual performances, in no particular order:

    Andre Curbelo - Puerto Rico

With 9 assists at halftime, it looked as though Curbelo was going to break the U17 World Cup assist record of 15. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be, but that didn't stop him from having one of the top performances of the day, finishing with a healthy 12 assists to go with his 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Puerto Rico would get a 81-64 win over China to lock in their Quarter-Finals spot and a date with Montenegro.

    ...

    Luke Jackson - Australia

It was only a matter of time before Luke Jackson got the nod in our Top 5 performers of the day. The walking double-double machine finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds in a 74-65 win over Mali for his fourth double-double in as many games. He added 2 assists and a steal for good measure, as Australia booked their Quarter-Finals spot versus Canada.

    ...

    Jovan Kljajic - Montenegro

Kljajic makes it two consecutive days in the Top 5 performances, after a 23-point, 16-rebound, 2-assist, 1-steal outing for Montenegro in their hard-fought 73-60 victory over hosts Argentina. Kljajic came up with some big momentum-swinging shots, like the step-back below, as the Montenegrins advance to face Puerto Rico.

    Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe - Canada

Moncrieffe put in his best outing of the tournament so far, finishing with 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 102-62 triumph over Philippines. The Filipinos struggled to handle Moncrieffe's strength and athleticism. Adding 3 blocks, an assist and a steal, Moncrieffe didn't miss from the free throw line (8-of-8) and went 7-of-12 from the floor as Canada cruised to 4-0 and a final eight match-up with Australia.

    Alperen Sengün - Turkey

Sengün had a big double-double, with 22 points and 15 rebounds, including 2 steals, 1 assist and 1 block as a bonus. Turkey dismantled Serbia with an 87-68 win to advance to the Quarter-Finals, where they will meet France.
