TAIPEI CITY (2016 FIBA U17 World Championship) - Chinese Taipei head coach Wu Cheng-Chieh decided on continuity for the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship as he named the same 12 players from the 2015 FIBA Asia U16 Championship to his roster.

Wu saw no need the change the team that brought the country its first-ever appearance in the global spectacle after Chinese Taipei grabbed second place last summer at FIBA Asia U16s.

The leader of Wu's side will once again be Lin Ting-Chien, who led the team in scoring last summer with 21.9 points while also averaging 5.1 points, 2.3 steals and 2.1 assists.

Tang Wei-Chieh will likely play a major role for Wu after finishing second in scoring with 19 points and second in rebounding with 8.4 boards a game. Another player who must perform at a high level for the Asians to be successful in Zaragoza will be Chen Yu-Wei, who averaged 6.6 assists to go with 7.6 points and 5.1 rebounds at the FIBA Asia U16 tournament.

Chen Yu-Wei will be a key factor for Chinese Taipei in Zaragoza

Chinese Taipei have been drawn into Group A at the U17 Worlds along with three-time reigning undefeated champions United States as well as fellow debutants Turkey and African champions Egypt.

The runners-up finish last summer was Chinese Taipei’s best-ever at the continental age group. They reached the Semi-Finals in 2013 but ended up taking fourth place - and missing the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship.
