LJUBLJANA (Slovenia) - The wait is almost over as the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2023 tournament gets underway in the cities of Tel Aviv and Ljubljana on Thursday.

There are 16 teams competing for the right to be proclaimed as the best team in Europe as the battle begins to be the last team standing on June 25.

Serbia are the defending champions from the 2021 edition having shared the last five titles with Spain, who were victorious in 2013, 2017 and 2019 to add to their first triumph back in 1993.

There are three more former winners in the field with Czech Republic (2005), France (2001, 2009) and inaugural champions Italy (1938) all previously getting their hands on the coveted silverware.

This year's edition comes with a brand new trophy, so will there be a new name on the illustrious roll of honor or will one of the five champions in the competition's history be adding to their legacy?

Have your say and vote below.
