MADRID (Spain) – The reigning FIBA Women’s EuroBasket champions Spain have confirmed the 12 players tasked with defending their precious crown at the 2019 edition.

Head coach Lucas Mondelo has sprung only a couple of surprises, with a familiar core picking up the reins and looking to step up in the absence of 2017 MVP Alba Torrens, who is absent with an injury.

Spain roster for FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2019
Tamara Abalde Queralt Casas Anna Cruz Silvia Dominguez
Laura Gil Astou Ndour Laura Nicholls Cristina Ouvina
Laia Palau Maria Pina Andrea Vilaro Marta Xargay

Veteran Laia Palau will continue to pull the strings - two years after she announced her retirement in Prague and she will be joined in a classy and amazingly deep backline.

It includes massive experience, with the evergreen Silvia Dominguez , the energetic Queralt Casas, in-form Cristina Ouvina - plus Marta Xargay and Anna Cruz, who have WNBA as well as EuroLeague Women court time to call upon.

The frontcourt will be led by Astou Ndour who impressed enough for a place in the All-Star Five last year at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, plus recent EuroCup Women winner, Laura Nicholls and the ever reliable Laura Gill.

Both Maria Pina and Andrea Vilaro will make their Final Round debuts, with Tamara Abalde back at the event for the first time in a decade.

Spain will compete in Group A against co-hosts Latvia, Great Britain and Ukraine.
