    SYDNEY (Australia) -  Penina Davidson claimed Top Performer honors on the first day of the FIBA Women's AsiaCup after posting  a towering performance to take Tall Ferns to a thrilling victory in Sydney.

    She stepped off the court having propelled New Zealand to a super 66-64 success against Korea as she accumulated a spectacular performance efficiency valuation of 32. That came off the back of a double-double that included 24 points and 10 rebounds.

The Opals' duo were unstoppable, with the Scherf adding 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, while her teammate contributed 18 points and 8 rebounds - also shooting a deadly 80 percent from the floor.

    Mai Yamamoto went to work for Japan as they swept aside Chinese Taipei 94-53 with the guard pulling the strings and registering a smart 9 points and 7 assists in the victory.
