Additionally, even if they were to miss out on the podium steps again, but still maintain their run of a top four finish, it would be enough to seal a ticket to the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018.
Having fielded two teams at the recent William Jones Cup, Chinese Taipei were given the perfect opportunity to whittle down their 24-strong candidate list, off the back of some impressive displays and results.
Their fate looks to be very much in the hands of experienced campaigners like Lin Yu-Ting and Huang Ping-Jen who have formed the backbone of past campaigns in recent years.
Chinese Taipei will go up against China, DPR Korea and new Oceania arrivals New Zealand in the Group phase.
