    The top performers of the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup's first day

    LEON (Mexico) – Brazil's Sassá Gonçalves was the top performer of the inaugural day of action at the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup, currently being played at Domo de la Feria in Leon, Guanajuato (Mexico).

    LEON (Mexico) – Brazil's Sassá Gonçalves was the top performer of the inaugural day of action at the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup, currently being played at Domo de la Feria in Leon, Guanajuato (Mexico), after finishing with the best valuation of the day.

    Gonçalves had a 23 efficiency after notching 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, while shooting 7/8 from the field and leading her team to a 92-53 victory over Cuba.

    Another player who also shined was a teammate of Gonçalves', center Kamilla Soares, who added 13 points, 8 boards, 2 steals and 2 blocks for an efficiency score of 21.

     

    Puerto Rican guard Arella Guirantes also had an outstanding showing, contributing 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and a steal (for a 20 efficiency) in Puerto Rico's win over Colombia, 63-62.

    Claudia Ramos poured 10 points (2/3 from beyond the arc), 7 rebounds and 2 blocks to pace Mexico in their win over Dominican Republic, 69-62. Ramos had an efficiency of 19.

    Finally, Angel Reese, last season's NCAA's Most Valuable Player, showed her dominance in just 15 minutes as the United States comfortably beat Venezuela, 80-54. Reese fell just shy of a double-double (11 points and 9 rebounds) and chipped in an assist and a block. The American forward had an efficiency of 15.
