PARIS (France) - France's showdown with Slovenia attracted 15,831 fans to Bercy Arena on Thursday, making it the third-highest attended game in FIBA Basketball World Cup European Qualifiers history.
The huge Paris crowd was on hand for Victor Wembanyama's first game as Les Bleus captain, with the hometown superstar treating the fans to 22 points and 9 rebounds in a 92-67 victory.
Greece's meeting with Belgium in Athens during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers remains the all-time benchmark after attracting 19,443 fans in August 2022, just ahead of the 19,150 who watched Serbia take on Greece in Belgrade three days earlier.
Thursday's attendance of 15,831 moves France vs Slovenia into third place on the all-time list, ahead of the 15,556 crowd for Türkiye against Serbia in Istanbul in 2022.
It also surpasses the 14,578 spectators who attended France's previous home meeting with Czechia in Paris during the August 2022 window.
