BEIJING (China) - Brandon Goodwin was the MVP of the Final in the Chinese Basketball Association last season, propelling the Shanghai Sharks to their first title since Yao Ming played for the team.
He showed everybody he can score with ease then, averaging 29 points and 9 assists across five Finals games, and he carried over the fine form to the new season, too.
In his first game at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2026, Goodwin put up 37 points, but it was not enough against the RSSB Tigers in a crazy overtime game that saw the BAL winners claim a 117-115 win.
But where does this scoring outburst rank in Intercontinental Cup history? We searched through the record books, even if the historical numbers are incomplete in the archive.
Best in new era
Since the FIBA Intercontinental Cup returned as a yearly event in 2013, no player has scored more in a single game than Goodwin.
In that same game, Craig Randall II also joined the list of 30-point scorers since 2013.

Short of Top 10 all-time
The archive of this competition is not complete, with plenty of boxscores missing, especially from the 1970s period of the Intercontinental Cup.
However, the existing numbers suggest Goodwin's game would not be in the Top 10, as there are exactly 10 members of the 40+ club.
Among the interesting names on the list, Sarunas Marciulionis is worth mentioning, as his son Augustas is playing the 2026 edition in Beijing.
