BEIJING (WCBA) - Lijie Miao and Song Liwei scored 22 points each in leading Shenyang to an 100-85 win over Yunnan that puts them in an unassailable position at the top of the standings following the penultimate round of the WCBA regular season.
The Liaoyang-based team has one more game, against Henan Elephants on Saturday, but the result of that game will have no bearing on their position of team with the best overall record in the regular season.
Shenyang’s closest challengers, Guangdong, are 16-5 after beating Heilongjiang 83-66. Even if Guangdong beat Fujiang on Saturday and Shenyang lose against Henan, Guangdong will trail their rivals by a win.
Miao and Liwei were joined by three other players in scoring 10 points or more. Liu Dan added 21 points, Zhao Shuang had 15 points and Han Ian Zhang chipped in with 13 points.
WCBA Round 21 (home team first): Beijing 95 Fujian 69; Guangdong 83 Heilongjiang 66; Yunnan 85 Shenyang 100; Zhejiang 64 Bayi 81; Henan 95 Shanghai 92; Liaoning 91 Jiangsu 85.
